How to print from Inkscape?

Asked by Gary Sorley

I am new to Inkscape and also to using this type of program. I cannot print from Inkscape because I get the error message "ERROR LAUNCHING A PREVIEW. NO APPLICATION IS REGISTERED AS HANDLING THIS FILE." I did some research and found a response, but that entailed changing some of the programing language. The answer to that question was beyond my capability to completely understand because it was certainly above my head.
Can anyone respond with an answer that I will be able to follow. I should be able to accomplish the instructions as long as I am "led by the hand" through the process.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Maren. Here's the info: OS X El Capitan, Version 10.11.6.
Inkscape 0.91. I will go the the self-help link after I hear back from
you, just in case there should be something special on the information I
provided.

Hi Gary,

I think I wouldn't be able to tell you more than su_v, our OS X packager (and Inkscape developer) does in the forum link for OS X. Be sure to follow the link in her comment, there's a comment by another user about how to actually fix it for yourself (don't know if it works, though).

If there is something unclear about the suggestions, come back here and I'll try my best to help (but I've never even touched a Mac).

Kind Regards,
 Maren

I used the "Workaround" provided in ~suv Jan 31, 2016 response and that has allowed me to print from Inkscape. I reviewed the "fix" suggested in mdahlman 08/04/2016 comment regarding adding the two lines by editing the file. However, I am not knowledgealbe enough to accomplish this without some assistance. Guess at this time I'll just use the WORKAROUND and wait for 0.91.1 or 0.92 to be released.

Thanks again, everyone for their help!

I'm 73, and I'm finally learning about computers!!!!???? Great Stuff! Don't count me down yet!

:D Cool!

Don't hesitate to come back to ask for help, or, if you like, create an account at http://inkscapeforum.com to get answers and input from a bunch of other helpful users! (the forum is better suited to real discussions, and there, it's possible to upload images to give a more graphical description of any problems and solutions).

Regards,
 Maren
