So what problem are you having? The background is normally transparent.

May sound silly to ask this question but I still have the transparent problem.
I created a simple image (just a filled circle) and export it to a png format image.
When displayed on my application, the background was white, not transparent.
Did I miss out anything?

not silly at all...

try checking these two things:

1. make sure there is not a white object behind your drawing
2. check the background colour of your canvas in File > Document Properties

hope this helps,

I'm having same problem. No matter what I do... I still get a white background and need a transparent one. I have done everything suggested in over hundreds of forums with hundreds of recommendations (Document properties, copy & paste objects to new default transparent background, create svg from scratch within inkscape with default transparent background, svg, png formats, imported it, traced it, Object>clip>set, etc, etc, etc...).

Please tell me how you solved this problem sas and Shiv Shanker.

Thanks.
