how do I embed fonts and images into a document?

Asked by Jana Barrett

I am using a template provided by createspace.com for the cover of my book. I created the cover in Inkscape. It looks really good, but when I open the pdf (I have used both Adobe and Cutepdfwriter. The file shows up as a pdf but when I open it there is nothing there. I suspect I need to embed fonts and images but I don't know how to do that with Inkscape. Maybe it is something else, I don't know. Can anyone please help me?

You can embed images using an extension on the effects menu: Effects -> Images -> Embed All Images. But that shouldn't be necessary for exporting to PDF.

You can't currently embed fonts. But if you use the "Convert text to paths" option when saving as PDF then fonts will not be a problem anyway.

A blank PDF export can be caused by having the image outside the page boundaries. If that's the problem, then clicking the "Fit page to selection" button in the Document Properties dialog (with nothing selected) should fix it.
