saving rectangles

trying to do the Swedish flag in the manual. when I draw the second bar (rectangle) the first one disappears. How do I keep them both?

Hi John,

 just read on in the manual:

"If you can't see the horizontal bar ... don't panic! Inkscape often uses the Current style (attributes: color, line style, etc.) to draw new objects... " )
