SVG problem

Hello.
I am experiencing problems when loading SVG files into Inkscape. I recently created a SVG in Xara, and wanted to export it to Inkscape. I saved the file and opened it in Inkscape, but discovered that all the layers were lost : all the layers which I created in xara were merged into one in Inkscape. Can you please tell me how to sort out this problem? Thank you.

The problem is that SVG doesn't have layers. So different programs use different ways of indicating layers in SVG files, and they usually don't understand the layer mark-up of other programs.

You could file a bug report asking for Inkscape to support Xara's layers, and attach a sample SVG file from Xara. It may not be too difficult to add this support.
