Why export in gif is impossible, it's always a png format.

When i try to export my draw in a gif format, the png extension is added at the end of the file name. I don't know how to correct this problem. Sorry for my english language but i'm french

It's only with the new 0.46 version but i dont know why. Can you help me?

I haven't used previous versions of Inkscape but for the current version, PNG seems to be the only bitmap format that's supported. You'll need another application to convert PNG to GIF.
