saving file

Asked by Michele Frazier

I have created boxes. I want to import images and place them in these boxes w/o distortion of the image. I used "power clip" and "place inside container" in a very old corel draw program that is not compatible with Vista. I would appreciate any suggestions.

It sounds like the clipping feature may be what you want.

1) Use File-Import to bring a picture into your drawing.
2) Resize the picture proportionally to approximately the size of your drawn box by dragging one of the picture's corner handles while holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard.
3) Drag the picture so that it overlaps the drawn box of interest
4) Drop the picture "behind" the box by selecting the picture and then choosing Object-Lower to bottom in the Inkscape menu bar
5) Select both the picture and the box and then choose Object-Clip-Set from the menus

FYI, you can clip an image to any drawn object shape you want, not just boxes.
