Can't get Inkscape to use any font other than Sans.

Asked by JadedFalcon703

I need to use Times New Roman font. However, Inkscape will not let me select any font other than Sans. If I try to paste in a word or letter with a different font, it automatically becomes Sans. If I try to select a different font (or type it in) with the drop down box, it defaults back to Sans immediately. What do I do? I'm using version 0.46.

I had this problem before. In my case, it was because the default font, Bitstream Vera Sans, was missing from the system.

Check your installed fonts. If you don't have Bitstream Vera Sans, you can download the Bitstream font set at http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/ttf-bitstream-vera/1.10/
