line drawing into vector

Asked by Jim Magee

I have several line drawings that I use for cutting on a scroll saw. I''d like to convert them to vector art for publishing. I have my drawings stored in tiff format. Most are 8 1/2 x 11 at 200 dpi. Can I use the tracing tool for this, or must I recreate the drawings ?

This sort of thing is what the trace tool is for. You may however find it better to use a raster tool first - either index the colours or use a threshold tool (eg in Gimp, Color > Threshold) to convert to black and white. But the tracing works pretty well on things I've tried it with. Just try it!

Can you help with this problem?
