cmyk

Asked by Ryan Lingner

I would like to be able to send a file to a printer. They tell me it needs to be at least 300dpi and in CMYK mode. How do I do this? I have looked around inkscape to find the setting and can't. I will need to send an .eps or pdf file to them. Thank you for your help.

As far as I am aware, Inkscape does not yet have CMYK hooked up for PDF, etc. One alternative might be to look at using Scribus as it is quite good at prepress and PDF creation.

Thanks for trying to help.  I guess inkscape is a nice program to PLAY with but not any use other than that in the real world.  KInd of a downer as it doesn't run to bad.  I have spent so much time trying to get around just buying AI that I would be way ahead if I would have just done it from the start.  I guess this would be our reccomendation to anyone that needs to print off this program.  Do you think they will fix this?  Doyou think they will make test easier to manipulate into different shapes easy?  If these 3 things get fixed it would be a great program!  Have a good one...   Ryan

Ryan,

We had this as a Google Summer of Code project, but we didn't have a spare slot for it. So it will happen whenever Miklos or somebody else will find time for it.

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Ryan Lingner for more information if necessary.
