Newbie with Inkscape - How to insert Wingdings symbol in text object?

Asked by Seagram

Hello,
I would like to use some symbols from Wingdings or Webdings in text objects.
However, I can't find a way to use them.
Typing in text object set to Wingdings font does NOT produce expected result.
Cutting from Word/pasting to Inkscape produces weird effects.
Typing Alt-key combinations produces nothing.

Any idea?
Thanks in advance

Browsing the other questions and answers, I found out some possible solutions.

The most interesting is to use Text>Glyphs, but then something wrong happens:

Though I select the Wingdings font and the value "All" in both "Writing" and "Subset" drop-down lists, all the symbols that appear in the window below are represented by a square with the Unicode code inside, and NOT the true appearance of the Symbol.
Moreover, when I click on symbols, they add up in the input field, but the comment always says "U+F0xx not assigned" and the "Add" button stays grey and deactivated.

What am I doing wrong?
