Inkscape uses the standard user data directory location for "color/icc/" under them. It then falls back to look under ~/.color/icc (which is deprecated) and then under all the system data directories for things under "color/icc/"

The user system directory locations are via a call in glib and follows the XDG Base Directory Specification. These might vary by distro.

Commonly the user data directory will be "~/.local/share", so "~/.local/share/color/icc/*" would be searched under.

The system ones might include "/usr/local/share" and "/usr/share".

Hello...
I'm a graphic designer, very interested in using profiles.

I'm using ubuntu hardy, and I have my profiles in the folder /usr/share/color/icc (by default) but I only can configure profiles running inkscape as root (gksu inkscape)
I tried also to copy profiles in /usr/local/color/icc without any results. Inkscape don't search in the default icc folder as the other programs do... Any suggestion?

Thank you, keep the good work, and feel free to mail me!!

Regards

Pablo Axeitos

I am doing a certain kind of printing called sublimation and I need to use a certain ICC profile. How do I load this ICC profile into INKSCAPE and how do I select it for printing? Thanks.

To use a profile as a target, place the .icc file in the same folder as your svg file. Add a <color-profile> element listing that .icc file. Then use the "CMS" picker to use colors based on that profile.

Directions have been started here: http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/Adding_color-profile_element
