Whenever I create an image and set it as my desktop background, all of the gradient I used becomes a solid color.

Asked by Mr. Awesomeness

Whenever I create an image and set it as my desktop background, all of the gradient I used becomes a solid color. All I want is for the picture I created in Inkscape to look exact to the picture I put on my desktop.

I click Export Bitmap (however it saves it as a PNG)

I locate the file

I click "Set as Desktop Background"

I look, and none of the gradient I used is visible, just solid color.

Actually, I did some experimenting, and it turns out that its not just the gradient. Anything that is in the background of my picture becomes a solid color. for example, I have a picture of outer space with a couple planets as my background image. I used the "trance bitmap" tool on it to make it all black, and the highlights of the planet white. I finished the picture and exported it as a PNG, but when I open it in MS paint or set it as my desktop background, the background is solid black. No planets are visible.

Ok, I have come up with an alternative solution. Whatever picture or shape at the bottom layer, it will become solid. So what I have done is set a gradiented white square at the bottom layer. All other layers come out perfectly, and the image is how I want it.

If anyone else has this problem I hope this helps.
