Inkscape SVG not supported by Cricut Design Space

Asked by jm

I am trying to use Inkscape to design my own SVGs to use in a cutting program called Cricut Design Space. Whenever I try to upload an SVG from Inkscape I'm told that the "Unsupported SVG will be dropped". I have tried saving as all SVG formats available in Inkscape.

Hi jm,

please either contact the author of the software that is unable to import a standard-conformant SVG produced with Inkscape to find out more about what the software doesn't like, or try to find someone who succeeded with this problem in a forum or another website that is for people who use cutting software.

You can try these sites, for example:

http://www.inkscapecuttingdesign.com/smf/

Kind Regards,

Hello Maren,

I've figured out that the files I create entirely in Inkscape work fine; but when I create a PNG image in Photoshop and then import the PNG to Inkscape to use as part of my SVG, the file does not upload properly to Design Space. Do you have any advice as to why a file that used a PNG would save differently?

Thank you for your help,

JM

I guess cricut just doesn't work with raster images inside an SVG.

Doesn't make a lot of sense for cutting anyway, I think.
If you give it a vector file, it probably expects vector data.

But really, you'd have to ask the vendor of the cricut software about this, they will know what their software can do and what it can't do. I can only guess, as I do not own such a device.

Kind Regards,
 Maren
