cannot find user .config file

Asked by Bob Bailey

I wish to add and extension and know that I need the file
/home/bob/.config/inkscape/extensions

but no such file exist nor do I know how to create it.
I am on Ubunto 16.04 lts and my searching doesn't reveal any recent .config file information.
I am a non technical user this stumps me.

Hi Bob,

this is not a file, but a directory.

The directory home/bob/.config hopefully already exists on your computer.
As .config starts with a period, this is a hidden folder.
In some file browsers, you need to activate the display of hidden folders to see them.
(usually, a right-click and then selection from the context menu should work)

Inside the .config directory, there should already be a directory named 'inkscape'.
In this directory, just create a new one called 'extensions' if it doesn't exist yet.
Save (unpacked) extensions into that new directory.

Kind Regards,
 Maren
