When I am in the process of importing an image as soon as I click on the file Inkscape closes/crashes. I'm in the middle of a project - any help would be appreciated!

When I am in the process of importing an image as soon as I click on the file Inkscape closes/crashes. I'm in the middle of a project - any help would be appreciated!

I uninstalled and reinstalled a fresh download. I tried jpg and giffs - the only thing that works is png. Is it a setting of some kind?

Hi Denise,

there are a few bugs related to image import in the current Inkscape version.
I cannot tell you which one exactly is causing your problem without
- the svg file
- the image file you're trying to import

One frequent bug concerns crashes upon import of different image types. It sounds a bit as if it were this one. You could convert your other file formats to png (use a different program for that, e.g. the gimp: http://gimp.org or imagemagick) to workaround that problem.

If conversion doesn't work or doesn't help, please upload your files so we can take a look.
(use a file hoster, like dropbox or framadrop or google drive, attachments will not work here)
