When I save as .eps the document won't open and gives an error. I don't know which boxes to check in the save as window.

Hi Tessa,

this is probably due to the fact that you don't have the necessary program installed that Inkscape needs to open eps files.

Here's how to install (for Windows, I'm assuming that that is your operating system):
https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#How_to_open_EPS_files_in_Windows

Useful hint: Always also save your file as Inkscape SVG, which is Inkscape's native file format. All other file formats Inkscape can export to loose some of the information that is present in the drawing, due to different sets of features supported by the different file formats. For example, eps export doesn't support partial transparency, so anything that contains blur or partially transparent objects (those that you can see through) will not come out as expected.

Kind Regards,
 Maren
