Hi Dmitriy,

If you save your files as SVG, (plain SVG, optimized SVG or Inkscape SVG), the blur filter effect will be preserved.

Some other file formats, that Inkscape can save to, do not support SVG filters, so the blur must either be rasterized, or it will be lost.

Which file format did you use for saving the image from Inkscape?

You can change the PNG quality in the export options at File -> Export PNG Image (either increase width, height, or dpi).

Kind Regards,
 Maren

"Change the PNG quality" partially solves the problem.
First page successfully preserved in the PDF, I want to keep everything in the same format. It is advisable to PDF, so you can zoom without loss of quality. PNG normal quality = very big size. May have another way?

But if i will not be able to save PDF - i save to PNG.

Hi Dmitriy,

the standard file format for saving files in Inkscape is SVG, which, just like pdf, does preserve the vector information.

It is very much recommended you *always* save a copy of your file as SVG. All the other file formats will loose information, because they do not support the exact same set of features as SVG does. Inkscape is an SVG editor.

When you export your file to pdf, you will need to select 'rasterize filter effects' to preserve the blur. This will, however, create a raster image instead of a vector image in your pdf. If you choose a dpi value of about 600 in the pdf export dialog, then with most printers, you will not see a difference.

PNG is a lossless file format. It does use compression, but unlike jpg, it does not loose pixel information when compressing. This is why it is bigger than a jpg file. If you want quality, use PNG, if you want a small file size, open the png file with another graphics program and save it as jpg. Or, if you're on Linux, use a program like pngquant to reduce the size of a png without loosing information.

Hope this additional info will help you,
 Kind Regards,
 Maren
