doesn't recognize printer and wont print

Asked by Yolanda

I'm discouraged that my page won't print as I put so much work into it. The printer is listed but only prints out a blank page.
I can't even get a page preview to show me anything.
What are the dimensions of the page on the scale. and should they be at the 0/0 axis.

Hi Yolanda,

the page preview is known to be broken with certain Inkscape versions for certain operating systems.

The first thing to check, in such a case, though, would be: Is your drawing on the page area at all? Is the page area as big as the paper size you selected? If those are not the case, please correct them.
Set the page size in Inkscape in the Document properties:
File -> Document properties, first tab
Move the drawing onto the page if it is not inside the page borders yet.

If these hints don't help, we will need some more info. Printing has different issues on different operating systems - so we need to know at least:

- your operating system
- your Inkscape version
- which file from our website you used to install Inkscape (msi? 32bit? 64bit? dmg? exe? or did you maybe compile Inkscape yourself?)

Kind Regards,
 Maren
