Converting CIE Chomracity date to Inkscape

Asked by Alex Farlie

In the US specficiation for MUTCD taraffic signs , the color data is defined (http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=a2583ef3fa3a41e5b157549f8dd705ab&mc=true&node=pt23.1.655&rgn=div5#se23.1.655_1603) CFR 655 Title 23 Appendix F., with reference to CIE style chormacity regions.

How do I convert these back into something Inkscape currently understands like RGB or HSL?

Thanks.

Hi Alex,

there appear to be a few websites that offer conversion, please do a web search with key words like 'convert CIE color to RGB' to make your own choice of which website you will trust with your colors, can't decide that for you ;-) (if you only need this single color).

It may well be that some colors cannot be represented in RGB. For printer-proof colors, you can also use Scribus, a free and open source color-managed DTP software. You can also use color profiles in Inkscape, for use with Scribus, see http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entry/getting-cmyk-colors-from-inkscape-to-scribus .

Kind Regards,
 Maren
