when going from normal image veiw to outsine there are imperfections

Asked by simon

I'm creating a logo for my up and coming business venture using inkscape the image looks all well and good while its in normal view mode no imperfections all solid straight lines looks perfect and I'm really happy with the outcome

now I'm trying to cut out the logo for a vinyl sticker to practice using my new machine so I change the view from normal view mode to outline to see what my image will look like after I send it to my plotter program only issue is there are now imperfections in only a few places like tiny pieces are missing from a puzzle I obviously do not want my plotter to be cutting these imperfections out ive tried to highlight them and delete them but to no avail and if I use the eraser I create even more cut lines because my original image is a solid colour

please help or advise where I'm going wrong

Hi Simon,

for editing those small imperfections, the best way I can imagine would be to zoom in and use the node tool to move the nodes and paths into their correct places, to delete nodes etc. (at least if I understood the problem correctly).

The eraser tool is (in most cases) not the most suitable tool to edit paths.

I don't know why you can't delete those paths - I would need the file and a more detailed description of what exactly can't be deleted to be able to tell.

Maybe you would also like to learn more about Inkscape usage by trying out one or more of these sources for your learning:

- The interactive tutorials that come with Inkscape, see Help -> Tutorials.

- Another option would be this (longer) beginner tutorial, if you're interested to get a more general overview about the software:
http://vektorrascheln.de/posts/2015/Dec/inkscape-fuer-einsteiger-teil-ii-praxis-en.html

- Entry-level user manual (slightly outdated):
http://en.flossmanuals.net/inkscape/

- User manual for users who understand basic terminology:
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

- A lot of other materials can be found in the 'Learn' section on our website and its submenus:
https://inkscape.org/en/learn/

Kind Regards,
 Maren
