do you preset the units (measurement) type?

I would like to preset the printing size of my document so that it is to scale with the printed image. Please explain if possible, if so, how to.

Hi Lynne,

I'm not entirely sure I understand what your goal is, so I'm just going to collect some options here, and you may need to pick the one that applies to your situation.

- Set the document size in File -> Document Properties, first tab, by either selecting from the list or entering numbers.
- Resize the document to its contents (i.e. the drawing) or to the objects that are currently selected by using the 'Resize page to content' option in the middle of that same dialog.
- Set the default document unit at the top right of that dialog.
- If you want to resize the contents of your image so it fits the page, select everything with the selection tool or by pressing Ctrl+A, hold Ctrl down to keep the aspect ratio, and then drag on the resizing handles until the contents is big enough.
You can also use snapping to snap the corners of the selection exactly to the page borders while resizing.
