Inkscape leaving a thin space between 2 perfectly snapped objects

Asked by Spark Interactive

Hi,
I have come to notice that Inkscape leaves a thin space between 2 rectangles, after snapping them.
I have entered the X,Y positions manually and are decimal free. I have also tried the PixelSnap extension to no avail.
Even simple graphics such as 2 rectangles will leave a very thin white line between them.
When viewing in Inkscape, you can barely see this line. As you zoom in, it remains the same width, so no matter how close you go the rectangles will always be seperated (but it is not an actual line with varying thickness).
I though it might be because of coordinate imperfection , so using the most simple rectangles of decimal free height and width, with decimal free coordinates, but the same results appear. Also, when exporting as an image, this line will appear as a 1 pixel line.
How can i fix this issue ?
Thank you

Hi Spark,

this is a known problem with antialiasing, which, until now, is very hard to solve in any graphics software.

There are a few workarounds, please see our FAQ for this:

Kind regards,
