I want to bring text in front of a colour square?

I want to write text over the top of a coloured square and when I bring the text across to put on top of the square it goes behind the square box I have created and I can not read the text?I need to bring the text forward and send the coloured box back, so the text sits on top of the coloured box!

Just for anyone else who reads this question:

Teresa probably found the stacking order buttons in the selection tool's tool bar, or used PgUp / PgDown to change stacking order.
