Centerline vectorizing tool

Asked by pegotes

Potrace vectorizing tool is not able to do centerline form recognisition which is a must for working on plans.

Doing some research I've found another free vector tool called autotrace with no GUI implemented but with centerline capabilities. After exporting the result on .svg I've obtained the image attached, and after some other experiment I even could fill with colours the different regions.

Why not make an implementation of autotrace inside inkscape? It would give some very useful illustrator-like performances.

I looked at the image and I don't quite understand the issue. You sure tried using Bucket Fill tool, didn't you? ;-)

Bucket fill is something completely different. What he's interested in in this case is something that reconstructs the centerlines of filled shapes, rather than their outlines.

Can you help with this problem?
