Can't pull up Fill and Stroke style dialog pop-up

Asked by Dan W.

I'm a new Inkscape user, but I couldn't locate a "fix" for the following problem: I'm unable to pull up the Fill and Stroke dialog box to change line width and other properties. I'm an "old-fashioned" graphic designer, now retired, who grew up in the pen-and-ink and technical pen era, so I'm slowly learning about the power of computer graphics via Inkscape, which is far, far superior to CorelDraw X5 which I had been using. I'd appreciate any suggestions about correcting the Fill and Stroke situation described above. Many thanks!

Hi Dan,

there are several reasons why a dialog doesn't open:

1. It's minimized. Look into the dock area at the right. Is there a tiny icon/text, which symbolizes the missing dialog? Click on it to maximize.

2. You're using a multi-monitor setup on OS/X. See
http://www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=18362
and
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1244397

3. Something else, see
www.inkscapeforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20373

Hope this helps - if none of these help, please report back.

Kind regards,
 Maren
