Hi Chonat Getz,

I don't know the software (Hype) you are referring to. But maybe it does not know how to deal with vector data.
Is the image in Hype a raster image now or is it still a vector graphic (zoom in - can you see pixels or not?) ?
Or maybe it can't even deal with transparency at all...
If I try the same with LibreOffice, I get the same result you get in Hype.

It might work if you use 'Export as png' and import the png file into Hype.

If this doesn't work, to help you, we will need some more info:

- What is 'Hype'? Do you have a link?
- What is your operating system? Version?
- Which Inkscape file from our website did you use for installation (link)?

Kind regards,
 Maren

Thank you for your help.
I did say that the problem was solved in that I can now import png images into Tumult Hype (tumult.com/hype/) - however I would like to import the vector images into tumult hype without the white background.
The link for Tumult hype is: tumult.com/hype/ - it is an animation app for the mac.
My OS is OS X el Capitan. I installed Inkscape version 9.1 which needs XQuartz to operate.
I have also tried changing the pasteboard options on XQuartz preferences , but with no success.
I would appreciate your help.

Tl;dr: not supported with Inkscape on OS X (yet).

-----

Independent of whether "Hype" would even accept a vector-based image format from the pasteboard (I don't know): To the best of my knowledge, vector-based image file formats currently don't transfer between X11/XQuartz clipboard and the native Pasteboard (it may work between two vector-based applications running both under X11/XQuartz).

Implementing seamless transfer of various file types via native OS X Pasteboard will require either
- full support for raster- and vector-based image file formats in the transfer/syncing from X11/XQuartz clipboard content to the native Pasteboard (needs to be fixed in XQuartz), or
- using the (native) backend of GTK+ (requires fixes in upstream libraries (Glib, Gtk+) to support the actual mimetypes (UTI (?)) used with the native Pasteboard - it's currently quite broken in test builds, see also bug #546934).
