how can I type text on a curved line as you would in illustrator?

I need to type text on a line that is curved and can't figure out how to do this?

Hi Noelle,

what you're looking for is the 'Text on Path' feature.

- First make sure the path is actually a path (Click on it, and look what it says in the status line at the bottom). If it is not a path, convert to one first (Path -> Object to Path). Also make sure the text is actually a text (status line, again. If it is in a group, ungroup it, until you can 'grab' the text.

- Select both Text and Path (hold Shift and click on both objects)

- Do 'Text -> Put on Path' (from the menu)

- If the direction of the text is wrong, try to reverse the path's direction: Path -> Reverse before you do 'put on Path' in the text menu.
