Hi Dennis,

just select it, then hit Del (or Backspace, or Ctrl+X or use the right-click menu to remove it).

If you can't select it easily because it's grouped, hold Ctrl down while clicking on the raster image.

Kind regards,
 Maren

Good morning Maren.
I guess I'm not doing something right.
All that happens is the image gets deleted.
I'm trying to convert a black and white picture into a SVG file that I can use on my X-carve.
What am I missing. When I try to down load the file it keeps telling me to remove Raster/Image type objects within the SVG.
Help,
Dennis

Ah - Dennis, in that case your question was a little misleading.
You asked about how to remove an image from your svg file - not how to vectorize it.
Thanks for clarifying!

I guess 'it' (the thing that keeps telling you to 'remove' raster images) is your X-carve thing?

So what you seem to want to do is to turn a raster image into a vector image, so your plotter/cutter/whatever device can carve(?) along the path lines. The process is called 'vectorizing' or 'tracing'.

Please take a look at the following links (and into the menu Help -> Tutorials -> Tracing for an interactive tutorial inside your Inkscape installation).

https://inkscape.org/en/doc/tracing/tutorial-tracing.html (official tutorial)

Kind regards,
 Maren
