saving a non responsive svg

Asked by Rebecca Iliff

Hi, I am trying to work with SVG files that are generated from an embroidery machine software (Embrilliance.) These are to then be uploaded into a cutting machine software (Cricut.) The SVG that come out of the embroidery software import into the cutting machine software too big. When using Illustrator, I can bring the SVG in and then re-save it, unchecking the "responsive" box for advanced settings. Doing this allows the SVG to import into the cutting software at the correct size. I'd like to be able to do this in Inkscape as well. Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi Rebecca,

without a file that doesn't work, and a file that does work with your Cricut machine, we can only guess. It would be helpful if you could upload two files (of the same object) somewhere (unfortunately, this answers section does not support uploads, you will need to use a file hosting service).

I have no idea what the 'responsive' checkbox in Illustrator does. If you can point to a place that explains it, that might be helpful, too.

Also, please clarify what exactly you mean by 'too big'? The file size in kB? Or the size in that it will be cut? Is the only thing you want to do to get the file size down?

Kind regards,
 Maren
