Hi elptuxman,

it's a little difficult to answer your question, because I'm not sure I understand what you would like to do.
My best guess is that you want to vectorize an image: See Help -> Tutorials -> Tracing and http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Trace.html

If that is not what you mean, please give more detail.
