Hi Russ,

yes, of course :)

Select an object, then do Edit -> Clone -> Create Clone
or
Select an object, then hit Alt+D (as long as that isn't reserved for anything else - for German, it doesn't work)
or
take a look at the powerful Tiled Clones dialog, Edit -> Clone -> Create Tiled Clones

Oh, or use the Spray tool with the corresponding setting to spray clones:
