Asked by Nicki Germany

I have an outline of the ole miss rebel, and I am wanting the outline in blue and then the inside of it red, but I cannot find anywhere to tell me how to do this. I am new to inkspace and I am really not sure how to use this site at all. and someone from another site told me that in order to cut and print it in design space I would have to fix it here first.

THanks Nicki

Hi Nicki,

Inkscape is a vector graphics program - you will need to install it, if you haven't yet (or maybe I just misunderstood the part with the site):
https://inkscape.org/en/ -> visit the download section and choose a file that fits your operating system.

When you have installed the program, open the vector file you have with Inkscape.
If your rebel outline is a simple path (check by looking into the status line at the bottom of the Window), you're good.
If not and it says 'Group' -> right-click on it and choose Ungroup, if it says 'Image', then you might want to learn how to vectorize a raster image first.

Then, select a single path, (e.g. select the outline of your rebel), and open the Fill & Stroke dialog (Ctrl+Shift+F or in the menu: Object -> Fill and Stroke).

Set the color for the Fill to red in the first tab by choosing 'Flat color' (second button at the top) and adjusting the color sliders.
Do the same for the Stroke in the second tab.
Adjust the width of the stroke in the third tab.

Learn more by visiting the tutorials inside Inkscape (Help -> Tutorials), or the Learn section on our website: https://inkscape.org/en/learn/

Kind regards,
 Maren
