Community structure

Asked by Raymond Wayfahrer

Hello,

I've been using Inkscape for some while and have decided to start contributing. My first question here is on 'Community structure' and a 'status system'.

As I see it Inkscape needs an LDAP system where all the users can be collected and sorted in a status system. Categories could be Developer, Novice, Super User and what not. Have anyone ever talked about this? A unified user system where content can be sorted?

Kind Regards

Raymond Wayfahrer

Short description of LDAP:

The Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP; /ˈɛldæp/) is an open, vendor-neutral, industry standard application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an Internet Protocol (IP) network.[1] Directory services play an important role in developing intranet and Internet applications by allowing the sharing of information about users, systems, networks, services, and applications throughout the network.[2] As examples, directory services may provide any organized set of records, often with a hierarchical structure, such as a corporate email directory. Similarly, a telephone directory is a list of subscribers with an address and a phone number.

Hi Raymond,

thanks for thinking about this.

The Inkscape website is constantly being developed, and the creation of teams with mailing lists and separate upload spaces is part of its next release.

Is this the kind of functionality you were thinking of?

Kind regards,
 Maren
