Curving image

Asked by Shanna

Good afternoon,

I am new to Inkscape. Can you explain how I can curve an image instead of text?

I have a logo that exist out of several words (seperate image files). I'd like to curve the image around an oval.

Just not sure how to get it done.

Hi Shanna,

do your image files contain raster or vector data?

If they contain vector data, you could use the Live Path Effect 'Bend'. See manual: http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Paths-LivePathEffects.html

If they are raster images, you should use a raster image editor, like the Gimp (http://gimp.org) for this instead of Inkscape.
(or you need to vectorize them first, see Tutorial in Help -> Tutorials -> Tracing)

Or you just write the text anew inside Inkscape and do 'Text on Path' - depends on the font used, and if that's available to you, of course.

Kind regards,
 Maren
