Fill in color

How do I fill in color with the bucket og my chosen area isn't closed - hope you understand.

Hi Ditte,

yes, I understand you well.

You must have an area that is completely surrounded by other objects, with no gaps between them, to use the fill tool.
Else it would fill the whole canvas - and as the canvas is infinite, that would take infinitely long.

For most purposes, you may want to use another tool. To learn more about how to use Inkscape, start with the tutorials which you can find in the Help menu. They will explain many things you will need.
