can not trace pdf file

I was sent an image through my email, it is a PDF file. I can not seem to go to path and trace bitmap it to send it to signcut. im not sure what i'm doing wrong.

Hi Anibal,

the workflow I would use would be this:

- open the pdf with Inkscape

- select all (Ctrl+A), then ungroup (Ctrl+G). Ungrouping may be necessary several times. Only a bitmap image can be traced. Groups or vector objects will not work.

- then select the object you want to trace, go to Object -> Trace Bitmap, choose your settings, hit Apply.

If something does not work, check the status bar at the bottom to see why. In most cases, Inkscape will print a helpful message there.
