Layer seems blocked, how to unblock

Asked by Pico.hq

My drawing has several layers, one of which appears to be blocked.
All layers are free to change, so with a open lock. I can make all layers invisible, including the problem-layer.
But when only I leave the problem-layer visible and press Ctrl-A I don't see a selection...... ;-(
In the bottom of the screen it says:
Filling: black
Line: black
O=100
Open eye
Open lockLayer-name
Links without URI in layer-name. Click selection to change between turning and scaling

So I see my drawn object, it's on that layer, I can make it (in)visible, but I can't select it or move or change color or ..........
I can even see the Object properties, it's not Hidden or Locked

Please help, I spent 3 hours trying, but nothing works .....

Gosh, it is so hard to guess, without having the file itself to look at. And this forum doesn't provide any way to attach or share your file. You might consider uploading it somewhere, and giving us a link to it. Or joining a regular bulletin board style forum, where you could attach the file to a message (list of all known is here: https://inkscape.org/en/community/. Or the User Mailing list, where you can attach the file to the message (info here: https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/).

But I could make a couple of comments from the info you provided. Since the status bar says "Click selection to change between turning and scaling" it indicates that something must be selected. I wonder if you have somehow grouped everything on that layer, so that it's selecting the whole page or even things outside the page border are being selected (if they somehow became grouped together). So the bounding box is outside the screen area, so you don't see it.

I'm not sure what "Links without URI in layer-name." means. But it's a clue.

Sorry, I wish I could be more help.
Good luck :-)

@Brynn :
Sorry for the delay, I was incapacitated ;-(
Now I'm back and found that my partner deleted the file, so I can't upload it anymore.
Sorry for your time and thank you for taking it to answer & help me !
