recover unsaved file

My computer died and I did not save my file on inkscape. Is there any way I can recover this file?? Please Help!

Hi Ana,

I don't think so, no.

You'd have to activate the autosave for this to work (via Menu: Edit -> Preferences -> Input/Output -> Autosave.

This option is not active by default. And you would have to save to a directory for non-temporary files (default is a temporary one, at least for Linux systems), which will not be emptied when the computer is restarted.

If it is only Inkscape that crashes, and not the whole computer that fails, then you may be lucky that a little window pops up that will tell you where an emergency save file was saved. This will only work if Inkscape crashes 'softly' - that is, if it doesn't crash so hard that it can't even save the file anymore. Also, autosaves will not be purged from the temporary files directory.
