pAge format

Asked by Alex Kenis

Hi,

I work with Inkscape 0.91 r13725
My defaults paper size on my printer is A4
In inkscape in document properties paper size is also set to A4.
But if i print it puts the paper size on printer preferences to legal.
Why is this?

There is also an offset between my print and what in inkscape
even when i take the margins in account.

Kr,
Alex

Hi Alex,

this sounds to me like two known bugs:
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/630635 or https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/489938
- https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/918319

Can you confirm that you are on Windows? (version?, 32 or 64bit? and which file from our website did you use for installation?)

You can add yourself to the supporters of those bug reports, to get info about when a fix is released.

Meanwhile, you can use a workaround and save to pdf or png, and then print from another program (pdf viewer, image viewer) which has a printing dialog that works well on your system.

Regards,
 Maren

Thank you Alex, that seems to fit to the bug reports.

Printing on Windows (and printing in general) is unfortunately a thing where Inkscape still needs some work.
(If you want a recommendation: I use the Gimp for this, which has an excellent printing dialog, which gives results that are accurate to the mm).
I hope the workaround will work fine for you until someone gets to fix it.
