Create color palette from artwork

Asked by Eric

Is there a way to create swatches from an artwork?
After drawing I apply colors that I would like to re-use in a new project. Is there a way to achieve that?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Eric,

One way to share color palettes between documents is:
Save As... Gimp Palette: see http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/File-Export.html#File-Export-GPL

and then move the file to the palettes directory:
see https://inkscape.org/en/learn/faq/#How_to_install_new_extensions

and then use the colors as swatch colors (if you intend to tweak them later), or just as normal colors.

Or you could just duplicate your file, and use an Auto palette, like here:
http://goinkscape.com/custom-color-palettes-in-inkscape/

More info can also be found here:
http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Attributes-Fill-Stroke.html#Attributes-Color-Swatches

Regards,
 Maren
