tool preferences in inkscape take no effect

When I change the preferences for a tool, eg pen tool, in preferences, it shows the changes in the preferences box. But the tool keeps drawing the same way. Reinstalling inkscape does not help.

Hi Holger,

just a quick guess what could be wrong:
Did you check the radio button 'Tool's own style' (or 'Stilvorgaben für dieses Werkzeug' in German) in the preference dialog for the tool?

If you did, then please tell us which Inkscape version and operating system you are using.
