Asked by cyrus

Aloha
circle.rectangle ,fill color swatches are not working.
I removed 0.91 and reinstalled and same problem persists.
when I press on tabs"view" and select "swatches"
a big X shows on the right hand side of screen.
when i select "rectangle tool" no lines are seen until i release the
mouse button, and then i select the selector ,then the rectangle deletes.
also when i attempt to fill, my object deletes.

Hhmm, it seems like you may be confused by the terminology.

In Inkscape "swatches" generally refer to colors or saved gradients. View menu > Swatches is how the Swatches dialog is opened. And unless you have created any custom swatches in that file, all you will see is the big X.

So I'm not sure what you mean by circle, rectangle, fill color swatches. I think you might be referring to dialogs or dialog windows, which are small windows with buttons and slider bars, and various other ways to make things happen.

"when i select "rectangle tool" no lines are seen until i release the mouse button" I'm not clear what you mean about that either. Is there some text "rectangle tool" that you want to select? Or do you mean that you're engaging the Rectangle tool by clicking on the icon/button from the toolbox (along left side of window)? Or do you mean that you're trying to draw a rectangle?

If you could explain exactly what buttons you're pressing or exactly what steps you are taking (click, drag, etc.), maybe we can understand what you're trying to do. When you hover your mouse over a button for a couple of seconds, some small text shows up that explains what that button is or does. So if you use those words, we can understand better what you're trying to do.
