How do I move font on top of image ..not behind

New to software...How do I move a text box on top of an image or color square.
It goes behind the image/box when I want to put on top

"Object->raise to top", if in the same layer (if not, you may want to reorder layers)

If you're new, i recommend reading the tutorials in help->tutorials in inkscape
