Converting PDF to Vector based pictograms, to be used individually in Microsoft Word.

Asked by Ben

Is there a way to convert a .pdf file into high resolution, vector based pictograms and separate them to be used individually in multiple documents (Microsoft Word)?

I have converted the .pdf file into a .svg file, but I'm unsure how to convert to individual pictograms to be used separately while retaining the vector based resolution.

Hi Ben,

if I understand correctly, you now have an svg file with a group of vector objects (pictograms) in it?
-> Just ungroup (Select, Ctrl+Shift+G, probably repeatedly) and save the pictograms separately (by copy-pasting into other files).

-> Or maybe, if they are all a parts of a single path object, you can use Path -> Break apart to turn them into separate objects. Maybe you will then need to combine some objects again, to get the holes back.

if the file contains only a raster image, you may want to use Path -> Trace Bitmap (be sure to take a peak into the manual, to understand the settings).

 Maren
