what is your hardware and OS?

It should be a desktop computer or notebook (32 or 64 bit), running Windows, OS/X or Linux. On a Raspberry Pi (Model A) it will not run well...

In terms of hard disk space: on any system it will be well below 400 Mb (XQuartz not included).

In terms of memory: this depends a lot on the file you are editing. When I use Inkscape on my Linux system, and do nothing, just run it, there are 100Mb more used than before. Opening a file with 3000 separate objects adds about 200 Mb of RAM used for me. On Windows / OS/X, this may be different.

In terms of CPU usage, this depends a lot on the contents of your picture and the functionality you want to use. A few filters / rendering extensions will use the full 100% of all the CPUs you allotted to Inkscape (see settings), and sometimes for a long time. Most operations won't, though. You don't need a recent gaming computer to use Inkscape 0.91, it also runs on 6+ years old notebooks.

Why don't you just try it out, test with several different files which fit your use? You can always uninstall if it does not run smoothly.
