Editing existing object transform problem

When I displayed the Transform pane for an object which already has a transform it shows an identity matrix under the matrix tab and null values on the other tabs. Is this as intended. I can understand that it might be difficult to populate the Move, Scale, Rotate, and Skew tabs from the SVG file but the matrix tab could be populated.

Did you check '[x] Edit current matrix'? If not checked, the tab allows to _apply_ a matrix transformation (as do the other tabs); if checks, it allows to edit the existing transformation (if present in a preserved transform attribute).

Somehow I completely overlooked that check box.
