Special font inclusion in SVG files

Asked by James Ingram

Hi,

[edit]

Ooops: Problem solved. The music font simply wasn't installed on my local system! (blush)

As I said I'm very excited about being able to use Inkscape in future! Many thanks!

I want to use Inkscape to annotate SVG music score pages that I have generated using my own software.
These scores use a special music font, that I'd like to see working in Inkscape while I'm editing. Unfortunately, its not showing up.

The score pages are designed to be embedded in HTML so they currently have an <?xml-stylesheet ... ?> directive in line 2.
I've also tried putting
<link href="../../fontsStyleSheet.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" />
in the SVG's <defs> section.
Both of these work when displaying the page in Chrome, but not in Inkscape.
You can find at a demo score here:

Page 1 is here (the link is too long for this editor - it continues on the next line):

Is there anything I can do to make the font show up in Inkscape? If not, I'll have to toggle between Inkscape and Chrome while editing, and that would be something of a hassle...

I'm an absolute beginner with Inkscape*, but am very excited to have discovered that its possible to load my SVG pages and save them again without losing the special namespace info describing the temporal information associated with the symbols!

Amazing stuff! :-))

Best wishes,
James
