trying to separate colors in a design so i can send to a plotter to cut heat transfer vinyl can i do this with inkscape and how

Hi Antonio,

this depends on the format of your design.

If it is already a vector graphic, you need to manually copy-paste the different colored things into their own file (or whatever format you use), "select same" will help you with finding all objects of the same color.

If you want to convert a raster graphic to be able to cut it, take a look at the 'trace bitmap' functionality in the "Path" menu.

You can specify the number of colors. Keep in mind that the background color (usually white) adds one color to the total number.
