can I set it so inkscape opens the .ai file when I click it in an email

I often receive .ai files in emails. I would like to be able to click them and have them open in inkscape. Is this possible?

You just have to set inkscape as the default application for opening .ai files (which is os-dependent).

In windows, right click on a ai file, "open with", select inkscape and check the "set as default application for this type of files"
